Ruben Soeratman renders legal services in the fields of labour and employment, corporate commercial, capital markets, insurance services, corporate financing and restructuring, foreign investments, corporate governance, and compliance, as well as commercial disputes.
Ruben worked at Nurjadin Sumono Mulyadi & Partners (NSMP) from 2006 to2015. After this, he worked at PT Indonesian Paradise Property Tbk, with a focus on hospitality. He re-joined NSMP in 2018.
Ruben’s experience on the corporate commercial aspect of his practice has included advising a Singaporean company with Indonesian subsidiaries; this company was attempting a listing on the Singapore Exchange (SGX). To complete the listing the company had to perform corporate restructuring over its Indonesian entities to comply with SGX’s requirements whereupon the listing was eventually concluded. He assisted a state-owned enterprise invest in a government economic recovery program through another state-owned enterprise. He has represented a German-based Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition (MICE) operator in a long-term operational deal for the MICE facility now known as the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), located in BSD City, Tangerang, Indonesia. His role was assisting in establishing a foreign direct investment company for the operator to run its business in Indonesia. He also regularly advises clients concerning corporate law, capital market transactions, listing requirements, insurance practices, foreign investments, and joint ventures.
In labour and employment, Ruben has assisted and represented several fast-moving consumer goods manufacturing and tobacco company(ies) in their employment matters, reorganization attempts, outsourcing, and employment termination matters, accompanied with preparing and negotiating their collective labour agreements with their company’s labour unions, as well as assisting them in their industrial relations disputes through the bipartite, tripartite and labour court phases.
He also has a certain degree of experience in commercial litigation, whereby he assisted several clients in their criminal defences concerning allegations of corruption and or absence of business licenses.
He graduated and earned his degree in law (SH.) from the Faculty of Law, Parahyangan Catholic University, in 2005. He earned his Master of Law (LL.M.) from Melbourne Law School, The University of Melbourne, in 2018.
He is a member of the Indonesian Advocates Association (Perhimpunan Advokat Indonesia/Peradi), Indonesian Capital Market Legal Consultants Association (Himpunan Konsultan Hukum Pasar Modal/HKHPM), Indonesian Labor Law Consultant Association (Himpunan Konsultan Hukum Ketenagakerjaan Indonesia/HKHKI), and Indonesian Data Privacy Professional Association (Asosiasi Profesional Privasi Data Indonesia/APPDI).
