Employment – An employment law specialist, Marie Claire is joint head of the employment team. She provides pragmatic and commercial advice to clients on all aspects of the employment relationship focused on resolving the issue at hand. She advises on the day to day range of employment issues, such as performance management issues, termination of employment, equality and discrimination claims, senior executive exits, enforcement of restrictive covenants , non-compete and confidentiality clauses. Marie Claire also assists in drafting and updating handbooks and contracts for clients, ensuring they are in line with evolving legislation and best practice requirements. Marie Claire works with clients advising on the implications and obligations arising from a transfer of undertaking (TUPE) and guides throughout consultation negotiations and post-merger harmonisation.

Data Protection – Marie Claire leads a cross disciplinary data protection team, advising clients on data protection issues arising in their businesses. Marie Claire assists clients who are dealing with high risk security breaches and liaises with various affected parties on their behalf, including the office of the Data Protection Commission. She advises clients on litigation arising from data breaches and has been involved in High Court and Circuit Court litigation. Marie Claire assists clients in their compliance projects and advises and drafts appropriate agreements for clients including data processing agreements, data sharing agreements (including intragroup) and advises on international data transfers and transfer tools.

Marie Claire sits as a non-executive director on the board of the Marie Keating Foundation and provides pro bono advice to various charities. She qualified in 2006, joined Whitney Moore in 2013 and became a partner in 2019.
